Three Gators have been selected to the Academic All-American Hall of Fame, the second best total in the nation.
- 2006 Basketball Graduation Success Rate
The Florida men’s basketball team won the national title in 2006, while posting a Graduation Success Rate of 100 percent.
- UF Athletic Graduation Success Rate
The University of Florida athletic department had seven University of Florida athletic teams score a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate and the overall athletic program produced a 92 percent Graduation Success Rate in data released from the NCAA this past fall.
- Biotechnology Transfer
Milken Institute named UF one of the top-five U.S. institutions in the transfer of biotechnology research to the marketplace (2006).
- Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary
In 2005, UF became the first university in the world to be designated a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for environmental and wildlife management.
- Sustainability
UF promotes and practices sustainability, including efficient, campus use of energy and water, and the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste.
- Faculty Awards
Faculty awards include two Pulitzer prizes, NASA’s top award for research, and winner of the Smithsonian Institution’s conservation award.
- Diabetes Research
Plans are under way to construct a new 50,000-square-foot research facility in collaboration with the Burnham Institute in Orlando. Researchers will work in the areas of diabetes, aging, genetics and cancer.
- Proton Beam Cancer Treatment
UF recently opened a new proton beam cancer treatment facility in Jacksonville, Florida. One of only three in the U.S., proton beam therapy represents a major step forward in the treatment of cancer.

UF’s 300,000 alumni live in all 50 states and 130 foreign countries.
- Diversity
UF’s 50,000 annual students come from all 67 Florida counties, all 50 states and more than 100 foreign countries.
- Minorities
UF ranked third in AAU for degrees awarded to African-American students in 2003 and seventh among public universities in the number of doctorates awarded to Hispanic/Latino students.
- New York Times Regional Newspaper Group Southeastern Conference All-Sports Title
For the 14th consecutive year, UF was awarded (2005) the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group Southeastern Conference All-Sports title.
- Sports Academy Directors’ Cup
National runner-up finishes by four teams paced the University of Florida athletics program to sixth-place overall in the 2004-05 Sports Academy Directors’ Cup competition.
- Performing Arts
The unique New World School of the Arts in Miami develops top talent through a joint UF, Miami-Dade College and Miami-Dade County Public Schools program.
- Health Science Center
The UF Health Science Center health care/dental clinics provide services in Gainesville, Leesburg, Hawthorne, Fanning Springs, Ocala, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and Hialeah.
- Telescope
UF partnered with Spain to create the world’s largest telescope in the Canary Islands and is a nationally renowned leader in specialized aeronautics and space research.
- Citrus Research Center
UF serves as the home of the world’s largest citrus research center and UF/IFAS has 13 Research and Education Centers, with cooperative extension offices in all 67 Florida counties.
- Honors Residential College
UF’s Honors Residential College at Hume Hall is the first honors residential college in the United States designed and built specifically for honors students.

UF placed second on the 2006 Kiplinger Personal Finance list of best values among public colleges and universities.

Two UF grads are currently in the Astronaut program.
